The person behind the projects
I'm ThatCrafter. This is how I keep the projects moving.
I'm documenting the restoration of a 1973 Plymouth 'Cuda, along with my classic Dodge truck projects. The goal is to share the real work: what I'm trying, what I learn, what goes wrong, and how I move forward.
ADHD and the detours along the way
I have ADHD. Jumping from one idea or task to another is a normal part of how I work. Sometimes a question, a tool I need, or an unexpected problem sends me down a different road before the original job is finished.
Here's how I describe it:
"It is not a crutch, it is just a bump in the road that throws your cargo off into the distance, some may never come down, but you try to pick up as much as you can as you still move forward."
I don't need every task to happen in perfect order. I need a way to keep track of what matters when the road changes.
Why AI is part of the garage
AI helps me capture a new idea without losing the old one. It can organize research, track what we've already tried, save the next step, and help me pick up where I left off. That makes room for necessary detours without letting the entire project disappear into them.
It's a tool, not a substitute for judgment or hands-on work. I still make the decisions, turn the wrenches, and check what actually works. AI helps keep the information and unfinished tasks within reach.
Why document all of this?
This site isn't just about finishing a car. It's also about showing the process honestly, including the side projects, mistakes, useful discoveries, and ways AI can help people manage complicated work without having to think in a straight line.
Maybe the restoration helps someone fix a classic Mopar. Maybe the way I organize the work helps someone finally get moving on a project of their own. Both are worth sharing.
